Educate Wild! PhilosophyAt Educate Wild! we believe that taking students out of their “normal everyday life” stimulates their curiosity and allows them to engage deeply with science, art, culture, community, and place in a way that is not possible in the classroom.
We believe that students learn best when they live in the landscapes they are studying, solve authentic, challenging problems, and interact with people who live in, work in, and love those places. We believe that field-based learning programs should be designed to intentionally facilitate students' intellectual, personal, social, and physical growth and that programs should design experiences that build upon one another throughout the course. We believe that educators have a moral duty to weigh the inherent risk of field experiences, program activities, and course challenges against the learning goals of their program. We know that field-based experiential learning takes more time, preparation, and energy than teaching in the classroom, but we also know that it is absolutely worth it ... and we are here to help. |
