The Educate Wild! Outdoor Educator's Tiny Bag of Tricks
Outdoor educators often draw on a “bag of tricks” when they teach in the field. This phrase has come to describe the set of interpersonal skills, teaching activities, and content knowledge that instructors build over their careers. It also refers to a stuff sack like this full of parachute cord, beanbags, toys, inspiring quotes, and other goodies that educators carry while traveling with students to help them create community and engage students throughout the course.
Participants have more a robust learning experience when instructors create a supportive learning community in the field actively cultivate community using this tiny bag of tricks.
