Improve your ability to communicate with students, colleagues, clients, and collaborators by learning the fundamentals of visual communication. Draw out your ideas using mind maps, visual templates, and easy-to-draw icons. You do NOT have to be an artist to express yourself graphically, but you do have to be adventurous enough to try. This workshop provides the opportunity to practice visual communication techniques and icons "on the wall" by working on large sheets of paper or whiteboards (provided). In order to meaningfully challenge our clients, we engage in activities with reasonable risks. During this presentation I will describe a framework that administrators and field staff can use to talk about and manage risk. Step 1: Identify your goals for taking people outside. Step 2: Identify the risks. Step 3: Weigh the risks of specific activities against your goals. Avoid, manage and reduce risks when prudent. Step 4: Get out there and enjoy the great outdoors! Step 5: Regularly review your risk management systems. |
